A Citizen’s Eye View of Public Preparedness

I Went To Washington, D.C. And (Not) All I Got Was This “Top Ten Things Needed For An Emergency” Shirt

I am in Washington, D.C. today primarily to do some interviews. But being a sucker for a good public readiness event, I dropped by a preparedness fair being organized by the District’s Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency in Farragut Square near the White House. I picked up some interesting and creative promotional preparedness items including a “Top Ten Things Needed For An Emergency” t-shirt (see photos below) as well as a Be Ready DC mini first aid kit and a magnetic emergency contact dry erase board.

nice…. am guessing this advice is to cover every type of emergency… doesn’t say which room to put them all in though. Wonder which room would be best to hide in if the emergency was a nuclear bomb… Hmmm….
