A Citizen’s Eye View of Public Preparedness

Radio Show Reviews Bush Administration, Previews Obama Administration On Homeland Security Issues

February 7th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Previously, I’ve written about the weekly “Homeland Security Inside & Out” radio show hosted by Dave McIntyre and Randy Larsen. I subscribe to its podcast through iTunes and find that I learn at least one thing from the show each week that is helpful to my work on public preparedness.

Over the past two weeks, the show has been reviewing homeland security during the Bush Administration and previewing it in the Obama Administration. The two-part series provides an excellent overview of current homeland security issues presented in an informed, non-partisan manner. If you want to download the shows, the audio for part 1 (the past) is here and part 2 (the future) is here. If you are in the Washington, D.C. area, “Homeland Security Inside & Out” can be heard Sundays at 9 p.m. on Federal News Radio 1500 AM (820 AM in Frederick, Md.) beginning this Sunday.

Also, as mentioned on the blog of The Atlantic’s James Fallows, McIntyre recently did an interesting seven-minute video in which he traces the development of the term “Homeland Security” and actually recommends it be replaced by another term, “Civil Security”. The video, from the YouTube page of the Integrative Center For Homeland Security at Texas A&M University where Dave teaches, is below:
