In this National Preparedness Month segment of “What Should We Tell The Public?”, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff urges Americans to create and think through an emergency plan for their family so they are in a position to deal with almost any situation they might face. In the video, shot at the Department’s headquarters in Washington, Chertoff says that by preparing in advance citizens also free first responders in an emergency to attend to those who cannot take of themselves and need assistance most.
