Peter Gudaitis is the Executive Director of the New York Interfaith Disaster Services(NYDIS). NYDIS is a faith-based federation of service providers and charitable organizations who work in partnership to develop and support faith-based disaster readiness, response, and recovery services for New York City. In addition, NYDIS produce a terrific free biweekly newsletter, NYDISNET, that is a very helpful preparedness resource.  

In this segment, taped at the NYDIS offices overlooking Ground Zero, Gudaitis says that when it comes to disaster preparedness and response we are indeed our brother’s keeper. And so we are not only responsible for helping our family, but also our neighbors and communities. On this Sunday after Hurricane Ike has devastated parts of the Gulf Coast, it is a message with particular resonance:
