A Citizen’s Eye View of Public Preparedness

“What Should We Tell The Public?” — Joe Becker

July 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

The blog’s new video series “What Should We Tell The Public?” today features a segment with Joe Becker, the American Red Cross’ Senior Vice President for Preparedness & Response.

In this series, I am asking leading people in the homeland security/emergency management/public health preparedness community for their tips, recommendations, and ideas on what they think citizens should know and do in order to increase their own, their community’s and their nation’s readiness.

In this two-minute segment, shot yesterday on the floor of the Red Cross’s Disaster Operations Center in Washington, D.C., Joe vividly puts you in the middle of a potential scenario and asks a lot of questions about your family’s preparedness that you don’t want to be answering for the first time during an emergency.

If you have any suggestions on people to interview for the “What Should We Tell The Public?” feature, or if you would like to submit a video of your own that I can post, please email me at jsolomon@incaseofemergencyblog.com.
